Let's Do Something Cool For Senator Dodd

Obviously, throwing a few bucks into his campaign chest would be a fine gesture but I'm thinking something more visible.

Effective politcs requires both carrots and sticks.

This is a carrot:

(a carrot)

This is a stick:

(a stick)

Now, we've proven over the years that we can wield the stick pretty effectively. I think its safe to say that, were it not for the outcry from this end of the blogosphere, the telcos would, tonight, be basking in their freshly passed retroactive immunity. That's some good stick-wielding, right there.

But we've all had the boss/friend/relative who only ever complains and never praises. How did you react? If you're like me (and who isn't) you probably learned that no amount of acquiescence would take the stick away so you simply started tuning them out. All stick and no carrot makes Jack stop listening.

Also, it feels good when our good behavior is recognized publicly and, when we see someone else being honored, we wonder what we can do to get some of that love for ourselves. When it comes to visible praise and popularity, politicians are just like the rest of us, only moreso.

So, given the above, I'd like to do something very visible that would show our appreciation for Senator Dodd's courage while simultaneously making his wishy-washy colleagues green with envy.

My first thought was filling his Capitol Hill offices with flowers; and I mean filling them, but I'd like to hear some other suggestions.

So, how's about it, my gentle Kosmopolitans; what sort of carrot should we get to reward our courageous Senator with the white hare hair?
